Say No To SOPA! Blackout Strike

While I have no idea how to blackout my page, I have a little banner in the corner.

I will not be posting anything tomorrow as part of the strike against the Stop Online Piracy Act which is a bunch of you-know-what.

To make a long story short, this SOPA will greatly diminish our say-so and freedom of speech on the internet as it will be heavily regulated.  Any complaint can shut a site and anyone linking to that site down, whether they had anything to do with it or not.

Talk about unconstitutional, right?  We'd end up having the same kind of monitoring that China has.  Not cool.

So I'm taking part, though I'm just an itty bitty blog, and not posting anything tomorrow.  Wikipedia and other large sites are going to be blacking out, so don't be surprised if a number of sites don't show up.

Think about it, though -- if this passes the sites that are blacking out in the strike would probably end up disappearing, a long with many others.

It will be interesting to see what the internet is like without them, but I would rather not go more than a day without Wikis!

Here's a cool article about it: http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/mythbusters/articles/mythbuster-adam-savage-sopa-could-destroy-the-internet-as-we-know-it-6620300

Cute Shoes and a Bad Hair Day

Lily got a whole bunch of new clothes from friends and family recently and she's stylin'!  Today she is wearing some bunny shoes!  She is frustrated because she can't pull them off like her socks.  Hehe, 1 for Mommy, 0 for Lily.

However, to even the score she made a mess in her diaper, so I gave her a bath.  Why is this a plus?  She got a massage after.  Lucky little girl :)

Mommy, on the other hand, is not doing so well.  I have an awful bad hair day today from putting my hair up in a messy ponytail after my shower.  Ugh.  A massage would have been better!

Lily likes it, though.  Apparently it is more fun to pull.

I haven't been posting too much because I got a 3DS :D  I'll let everyone know if it's worth getting or not in a while.  I have a few reviews coming up soon, so be on the lookout!

And Lily has more shoes to show off.

Gluten Free -- Way To Be?

I personally have no physical problem with gluten, though I do a lot of people that are unable to eat it due to allergies.  It takes some getting used to, but eating gluten free isn't all that bad.

Lately I've been munching down on some KinniKritters chocolate animal cookies.  They had a weird texture at first, but now that I've started eating them regularly I love them!

I am not 100% certain about the "gluten free" craze that people without the allergy have, but it seems to work for me.

These KinniKritters are dairy free, nut free, and gluten free but "may contain traces of egg."  Talk about awesome!  For all that they lack, they really do make a wonderful snack.  If you're worried about calories (and I personally am not) they are 90 calories per serving, and each serving is 20 grams, or 8 cookies.

To find out more, you can check out Kinnikinnick.com.  I just finished my box, so I better go buy some more!

Lily's Discovery, My Scare, and Cleaning

A couple of days ago I was typing away on the computer when Lily's walker toy started making sounds I had never heard before.  I listened and grew concerned, so I walked in to see what was wrong.  It was buzzing and making sounds that sounded like songs.  I had never heard the toy do that, so I started to worry that it was dying or about to explode.  Before lifting Lily out of the toy and saying the Lord's Prayer to exorcise the possessed toy, I realized that maybe Lily had just found a new setting I hadn't.  Sure enough, there is a hidden switch that changes the sound-making part from a keyboard, to songs, to animal noises.  I was relieved and also proud Lily figured it out.

Of course, she could have just been banging on the toy until something new happened.

Next, Tike disappeared for a long time.  I heard a cat yelling in the woods and started freaking out.  He didn't come when I called him, which is rather unusual for him.  When the yelling stopped and everything was silent, I thought for sure my furbaby was gone.

Then, a little while later, I saw him running out of the woods and right up to me.  Scared me to death, but he's alright.

And today I've been cleaning.  That's pretty much my life in a nutshell.  I even took a break from Pokemon.  I'm sure Lily wasn't too happy about not getting to teeth on the Gameboy, but we all must make sacrifices.

Girl Legos Sexist? An EdenFantasy's Post.

The dreaded girl Legos!
EdenFantasys is an adult toy store and carries objects not intended for persons under 18 years of age.  While the post is family and work friendly, not all links might be.  Please use discretion.

I was browsing through EdenFantasys SexIS magazine and stumbled upon an article about a new Legos product for girls and how some feminists are against it.  It made me think – What’s wrong with some pink and purple Lego blocks?!  I want some!

The author, Liz Langley, talks about the “Whoa! Momma” bloggers from Tampa Bay Times and their outrage about the new idea.  You can read the whole article here and leave your thoughts if desired.

I can see both sides, but I really don’t think there is anything wrong with some Lego products that are aimed specifically at females.  Sure, I know there is nothing wrong with the original Legos as they are, but new colors would be nice.  It does not mean that girls can’t play with the originals, just that there are options that may be more attractive to girls who would otherwise not play with them.

Unfortunately (in my opinion), there are some feminists up in arms about this new proposed idea.  Really?  I don’t get it.  I mean, I get the “We want to be equal!” part, but I like some pink and purple princess stuff every now and again.  Lace, frills, and home cooking aren’t oppressive in my mind.  But yet, somehow, a company trying to create a product that targets a different gender demographic is now considered sexist.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t companies out to make money?  I'm sure they want to include everyone in their consumer market. If they can make money off of it, I’m sure the last thing on their mind is discrimination.  They want as many consumers to purchase their products as possible.  Quit complaining about EVERYTHING please.

I want pink Legos.

Fun Way to Beat That Baby-Fat

Alright, so when I became pregnant I weighed about 105lbs, was 9 months pregnant and weighed 140lbs, and now am down to a little over 110lbs.  I'm doing pretty well, but still have a lot of squish in the middle.  I can't go to a gym and it's been too cold to walk around outside with Lily in her pouch or sling.  However am I to get those 10,000 recommended steps a day?!

Well, I had a "DUH!" moment when I realized I still had a Ps2 and Dance Dance Revolution. It took me hours to find all the pieces and set it up to my grandmother's dinosaur TV.  Well, I never did set it up to it, I used my own smaller TV, but it worked.  Before I knew it I had a work-out I could enjoy!  I ended up getting 5,000 steps on DDR alone before I realized I am rusty!  I knew I was going to need to work up to the 10K, but 5K is a great start!

Dance Dance Revolution has a workout mode where you can input how many calories you want to burn or how long you want to dance for. There are also so many different versions of DDR it's hard NOT to find songs you like. It's great cardio and awesome for the legs (and tushy :) so I find it worth the trouble.

There are DDR games for Wii or X-Box 360 with Kinect, and even Ps3, but if you don't have any of those and this sounds fun then I am sure you can find inexpensive used Ps2's or X-Boxes, DDR copies, and the DDR pads needed to play.

Lily also liked to watch.  The bright colors on the screen caught her attention and she laughed at her mommy doing funny things.

I remember when we were younger my brother, sister, and I would often take turns playing and trying to get high scores.  We did it for HOURS.  I wonder how many steps we got then?

I know Swagbucks has different games and game consoles as rewards periodically, so you may even be able to grab some things for free if you look!  Personally, I've been an E-Bay fanatic.  Listia also has some great free deals on games as well.  Check it all out if you want!

Lily Said Mama!

GGB denies it, but I know she heard it too.

We were sitting in the living room and she was on my lap.  We were watching something right around 12 and she started squirming.  Before I know it, I heard her yell, "MAMAAAAA!"  I looked at GGB and she looked at me and we looked at her and I said, "Did you say 'Mama?'"

"Mama!"

"That's so good sweetie! Yaaaaay! Do it again!  Say, 'Mama."

"Pfffffffffft."

Oh well.  I heard it.  She did it.  She doesn't know what it means, but I'm counting it.
