The end of the world!

Alright, so I must sound completely crazy, but every time I hear anything about the end of the world I have to sit down and watch, read, listen, whatever. Prophets of Doom came on today and I only caught snip-its of it, but I'm back on a conspiracy kick. Nibiru! Planet X! Nemesis! AAAAHHH!!

It did get me thinking, though. If some natural catastrophe happened, would I be prepared?

Probably not.

So I have decided that I will put together a survival kit! I'm not really able to stockpile or anything, but I have a fear that if I DID stockpile it, some not-so-nice people would just come in and steal it if I couldn't defend it.

In my survival kit:
flint and steel
waterproof matches
fish hooks
water purifier
flares
mirror
magnifying glass
knives
multi-purpose tool (like a large swiss army knife)
First-aid (stockpile lots of ibuprofen :P)
needle and thread
Seeds
bow/crossbow and arrows/bolts
defense (maybe a gun)
candles
my cat (He'll learn to hunt if he has to :P )
Salt
Things to barter with (clothes, tools, resources, etc.)

That's all I can think of, but I'm sure there is more I haven't thought of. If you want to add something that you know you'd have in your survival kit, leave a comment with it :)

Today in Pictures: Invasion of Ladybugs

Today has been a really nice day. Lily woke us up at a decent hour, the weather was wonderful, and I think I'm getting off to a good start with the blogging :)

Tike Myson (My lovely kitty, which still would be better off with a new home *hinthint*) got a good brush-down today. He's such a person's kitty. He doesn't like being alone... but last night he stalked a doe that came up into the yard. He won't attack things smaller than him, but of COURSE he'd go after the doe. I think he doesn't hunt after getting stung by a bee last time he tried...

I went inside and got chores done while Lily slept. I think it helps :) After a while I decided to take the dog out because she was wandering around. I opened the door to the back porch and I was attacked by a swarm of ladybugs! They always seem to get me >.< Got some nice pictures, though. I ended up going outside and taking Lily with me. Eventually I put her toy on the back porch and we sat and enjoyed the weather.

Today was cool. I also got college stuff in the mail :) Yaaaay for today!

Today in Pictures

Today we woke up at a decent hour (10am thanks to Fall Back) and Lily filled up on boobie milk. She was thoroughly pleased. Then she took a loooong nap in her vibrating bouncy chair. After waking up and finding out we were going to Target, she was happy.

Unfortunately, it meant getting up and out into the wind. That wouldn't be a problem if the sun wasn't so bright. Not the dreaded car seat!!

The car ride wasn't too bad, and sitting in mommy's pouch and being able to see everything was a treat. She even got some headbands! Unfortunately, GreatGrandmommyBunny continues to say they look like they're squeezing her brains out.

After it's all said and done... oh my gosh she loves playing with her toy :)

Sightseeing at Target

Today we went to Target, and taking Lily wasn't too bad. She's a really good kid, but I think what kept her from being fussy was being in her sling.

I got this awesome sling at Sevenslings.com that I was carrying her around in. Her head was poking out, making us look like a mommy and baby kangaroo. She didn't get fussy or anything because she was looking at everything in the store. She didn't have TIME to get fussy! She eventually fell asleep... when we finally got to the toy section! Silly little girl :) She slept most of the time, though she did enjoy people telling her how adorable she looked.

It was really funny hearing people talking around us saying,"Look at that baby in the sling!" I was also proud of Lilz because she didn't pitch a fit or cry. I think she really had a great time :)

We also got her some little headbands, too, so people don't mistake her for a boy.

Updates on the Lily-meister

In order to try and be more organized, I am putting all of my Lily-related stuff as well as anything about giveaways and whatnot. I love my TurtleTeeth Designs, but I think it will be morphing into something greater so I would like to keep Lily away from the morphing.

It has also been a while since I updated about my little girl <3 She's getting so big! She's already 10 weeks old and at the rate she's going she'll be crawling soon.

We've been cloth-diapering with disposables here and there. Charlie Banana brand has been good to us. I think the only time she leaked was my fault for forgetting a snap somewhere. I would like to get her more, but I'm on a tight budget. People gave us a whole lot of disposables and I didn't want them to go to waste. The Huggies were cool, but we had many poopy explosions out of the diaper. Now we're trying Luvs, and so far nothing has escaped, even overnight.

However... Her Grandmama and Grandpapa Lee have ordered her a set of Sunbaby cloth diapers. They'll be here eventually and I'll see how they go. I'm excited :)

Breastfeeding! Where to begin? I love it, I won't lie. At first I thought it was going to be weird pumping and seeing my milk in a bottle when other people feed her, but then I realized it was probably weirder for people to drink milk from another species. Then again, I don't like milk so I think milk-chuggers are weird :P :)

I'm going to stay strong and continue breastfeeding the full 6 months, but I am DYING to use the Baby Bullet. Even if I can use it just to use it I'd be good, but it's exciting!

As far as toys go, her Great-Aunt Melanie bought her a baby gym thingy. It's a cushy pad with these bars that meet together in the center and have toys hanging off of them. The center has a mobile and it plays music, plays music and lights up, or plays music and spins. It's so freakin' awesome :)

She is still sleeping in the bed with me. I really don't know what I'm going to do when she does eventually move to a crib. I think I'll be more affected by it than she will! But, in all honesty, it's just so much easier to be able to feed her in bed then fall back to sleep. Heck, she doesn't even open her eyes at night anymore -- she just hits me 'til I get up and feed her. I don't have to worry about squishing her because I sleep so lightly with her there I don't move. She's constantly gravitating toward me, so I'm the one that's got to watch falling off! We start her off in the center of the bed and I switch sides in the middle of the night depending on if I can feel my arm or not. She'll get so close that I start moving to make sure she has room to breathe... Then when I wake up I'm right on the edge!

Well, better get this blog finished up. Still have a lot I want to do to it.
